Armed Group Shuts Down Oil Pipeline in Libya
The Petroleum Facilities Guard, an armed group responsible for securing Libyan oil infrastructure, has shut down Pipeline 7, which transports crude from the Sharara field to Zawiyah. This action, taken after the group’s demands to be placed under the National Oil Corporation (NOC) were not met, has reduced raw oil production. The NOC warned that continued closures would severely impact Libya's economy and force a halt to production. The unrest adds pressure to international oil markets already strained by conflicts involving the US, Israel, and Iran, as much of Libya's crude is exported to Europe.
