Increasing Number of Birds with West Nile Virus Symptoms at Zundert Rehabilitation Center
The bird rehabilitation center in Zundert has received 270 corvids since August 1, many showing symptoms consistent with the West Nile virus. This surge coincides with RIVM reports of rising infections and a fourth human death in the Netherlands. Staff monitor for neurological signs to identify infected birds, as no vaccine exists for avian or human cases.
