Piece of 1700-year-old Odyssey discovered in Utrecht
Researchers at Utrecht University Library discovered a parchment fragment dating back approximately 1700 years containing lines from Homer’s Odyssey. Mark de Kreij from Radboud University found it two years ago among ancient manuscripts. The small piece, less than 8 centimeters, originates from the third or fourth century AD and describes Odysseus’ crew eating Helios’ sacred cattle. Only dozens of similar fragments exist globally. The university recently announced this significant archaeological find.
