Belarus Opposition Leader Warns Trump Against Trade Deal with Lukashenko: Benefits Russia
Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tichanovskaja has warned the United States against concluding a potash trade deal with Belarus, arguing that such an agreement would benefit Russia. US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that an agreement is being prepared to purchase potash, noting that the price is significantly lower than what the US currently pays Canada amid a trade dispute. Tichanovskaja, who claims victory in the 2020 presidential election and now resides in Poland, stated that revenues from the deal would be used to suppress the Belarusian people and support Russia's war in Ukraine. Lithuania, a neighbor of Belarus, also expressed opposition to the potential deal between the US and Aleksandr Lukashenko.
