Former Snooker Champion Graeme Dott Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison for Child Sexual Abuse
Former world snooker champion Graeme Dott has been sentenced to seven years in prison for the sexual abuse of two children. The 49-year-old Scot was found guilty last month after admitting to grooming a girl between 1993 and 1996 and committing indecent acts with a boy between 2006 and 2010. A judge at Edinburgh Sheriff Court stated that Dott deprived his victims of a significant portion of their childhood, causing them fear, shame, and anger. Dott’s lawyer, Euan Dow, cited long-standing mental health issues as a mitigating factor. Consequently, Dott has been removed from the World Snooker Hall of Fame, marking the destruction of both his personal and professional life following his suspension when charges were revealed last year.
