House Prices Continue to Rise, but at a Slower Pace

According to CBS and the Kadaster, existing home prices in the Netherlands rose by 3.3 percent in August compared to the previous year, down from nearly 12 percent in November 2024. The average selling price exceeded 503,000 euros, remaining above the 500,000 euro threshold for the first time since July. Although fewer homes changed hands in August with approximately 19,000 sales, cumulative sales for the first eight months increased by over 4 percent. CBS chief economist Peter Hein van Mulligen attributes the deceleration in price growth to higher mortgage rates, which reduce borrowing capacity and spending power for potential buyers.
