Brabant Supercomputer to Deliver Faster, Smarter Solutions
The province of North Brabant is investing four million euros in a new AI supercomputer to help local businesses and institutions develop solutions more quickly, such as faster cancer diagnoses and cheaper electricity grid options. Although the servers are located in Finland due to lower energy costs and existing infrastructure from the Technical University of Eindhoven, officials emphasize that this supports European sovereignty and reduces reliance on American and Chinese providers. Martijn van Gruijthuijsen, Deputy for Economy, Talent Development, and Finance, stated that the investment aims to keep local enterprises competitive with the pace of the innovative economy. The funding covers two years of computing power and personnel, with a long-term financing model to be developed soon. Partners include Enexis, the Technical University of Eindhoven, Tilburg University, and the Brabantse Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij (BOM).
