17-year-old Ohashi swims world record in 200m breaststroke
Seventeen-year-old Japanese swimmer Shin Ohashi set a new world record in the 200-meter breaststroke final at the Asian Games in Tokyo, finishing in 2:04.83. This performance was 0.65 seconds faster than the previous record held by China's Qin Haiyang from 2023. The victory marks Ohashi's second gold medal at the games, having previously won the 100-meter breaststroke alongside Dong Zhihao. Meanwhile, 13-year-old Chinese swimmer Yu Zidi also impressed by securing three gold medals in butterfly and individual medley events.
