Buses and trams become significantly cheaper in Utrecht for two months, but check how you travel
The Province of Utrecht has launched a discount campaign on public transport to compensate travelers for bus service disruptions since December, funded by fines levied against operators Transdev and Keolis. For two months, daily fares are capped at 5 euros instead of 10, monthly passes at 50 euros instead of 100, and youth dalur subscriptions at 15 euros instead of 30. These discounts apply only when using OVpay via the new ov-pas or debit card, not the ov-chipkaart. From December 13 to 31, all passengers will pay only the boarding fee of 1.16 euros. Provincial executive André van Schie stated that while this compensation acknowledges traveler frustration, it does not replace the need for a stable schedule.
