Volkswagen and Audi Recall Nearly 2.9 Million Vehicles Over Steering Defect Risk
Volkswagen and Audi are recalling nearly 2.9 million vehicles worldwide due to a risk of steering failure caused by a screw susceptible to corrosion. The recall affects Volkswagen models including Golf, Tiguan, Touran, and Caddy manufactured between September 2013 and July 2024, as well as Audi Q3 models built between October 2017 and May 2024. Although no accidents or injuries have been reported, the companies plan to replace the vulnerable screws with corrosion-resistant ones as a precautionary measure. Volkswagen estimates that damage may occur in approximately one percent of the recalled cars. Owners in the Netherlands can verify if their vehicle is affected using the RDW license plate check, with nearly one million of the recalled vehicles located in Germany.
