How to Save Fuel If You Still Want to Drive
Rising fuel prices due to the war in the Middle East have prompted experts to advise drivers on reducing consumption by up to 10 percent. Driving instructor Fadi Sofya recommends maintaining a constant speed, planning ahead to avoid braking, and shifting gears between 2,000 and 2,500 RPM for efficiency. ANWB’s Jos Drift notes that driving at 100 km/h instead of 130 km/h can reduce fuel use by 20 percent. Additional tips include checking tire pressure monthly, turning off the engine if stopped for more than ten seconds, keeping windows closed to minimize air conditioning use, and choosing cheaper fuel stations. These measures can save hundreds of euros annually.
