Lion King Director in Talks for New AI Film
Rob Minkoff, co-director of Disney's The Lion King, is holding advanced discussions with Dutch AI studio Particle 6 to serve as creative leader on the family film Storm Dogs. The movie follows a two-year-old girl separated from her guardian during a storm and rescued by five dogs, with adult roles filmed conventionally while the child and animals are created using traditional techniques combined with artificial intelligence. Minkoff will collaborate with Particle 6 founder Eline van der Velden over the coming months on the story, characters, and script, with production currently scheduled for 2027. Particle 6 is also known for creating Tilly Norwood, an AI-generated actress who gained international attention last year.
