More than 100 deaths in floods on Nepal-India border

Heavy rainfall has caused more than 100 fatalities in the border region of India and Nepal, with authorities reporting 81 deaths in Uttar Pradesh and 21 in Nepal. The disaster follows severe flooding in late August that killed over 1,400 people in Nepal. In India, fallen trees, collapsed buildings, and electrocutions contributed to the death toll, while 2,200 homes were damaged and 81 hectares of farmland submerged. Schools in affected parts of Uttar Pradesh closed as rescue operations continued, and officials advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel near fast-flowing rivers. Additionally, more than 75,000 people were evacuated in Odisha, eastern India, during the monsoon season.
