Cheap Packages from Outside the EU Become More Expensive Again
Cheap packages from outside the EU will face additional costs starting in November due to new European Union regulations aimed at controlling imports from online retailers like SHEIN and Temu. A temporary 3 euro customs duty already applies to goods under 150 euros, calculated per article type rather than per package. From November, a separate processing fee will be introduced to cover customs services handling the surge in shipments, which reached 5.9 billion items in 2025, mostly from China. Eurocommissaris Maros Sefcovic emphasized that these reforms protect the internal market and economic security, with a new European customs authority expected to begin operations in 2027.
