Large Parts of Bangkok Flooded After Persistent Heavy Rainfall
Persistent heavy rainfall has caused widespread flooding across Bangkok, prompting the governor to declare a state of emergency in all 50 districts. Local authorities reported over 300 millimeters of rain in the past 48 hours, submerging streets and homes, though the situation has since stabilized. While air traffic remains largely unaffected with only minor delays due to diversions, many businesses have closed, and residents have used boats for transport. The Thaise meteorologische dienst attributes the storms to a powerful low-pressure system and strengthening southwest monsoon, warning of continued heavy rain until tomorrow. The governor estimates it may take three days for the water to recede, and there are no reports of casualties.
