First Twente Municipality Announces No Enforcement for Fireworks if Conducted Neatly
Burgemeester Gerrit-Jan Gorter of Twenterand stated that his municipality will not enforce the national New Year's Eve fireworks ban unless there are excesses. Although legal fireworks remain prohibited, Gorter indicated that residents who purchase and set off fireworks neatly from across the border will not face penalties, emphasizing personal responsibility. He rejected requests from PVV council member Marielle Roelofs to grant exemptions for neighborhood associations, citing unmanageable oversight workloads.
