Amazon Not Required to Provide Hard Figures for Restructuring

The Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal ruled that Amazon did not need to provide quantitative data to justify its restructuring decision, which resulted in dozens of employees in the Netherlands being declared surplus. Although the works council advised against the plan due to a lack of objective metrics and sought a four-month work exemption, the chamber determined that qualitative arguments regarding global organizational efficiency were sufficient. The court emphasized that restructuring falls within the employer's policy discretion, provided alternative measures are considered and explained.
