Youth Nuisance in Uden Shifts to Park: Municipality Takes Action
The municipality of Maashorst is implementing measures to enhance safety at Bevrijdingspark in Uden, including temporary camera surveillance, following nearly 140 reports of residents feeling unsafe since June. Mayor Hans van der Pas announced a package of interventions, such as improved lighting and extra supervision, to address vandalism and disturbances primarily caused by young people. Claus van Heesch, chairman of Uden Centrum Management, noted that while previous center restrictions reduced incidents, nuisance has shifted to the park, which serves as a route for residents and hosts a bus station. He expressed concern that cameras might simply displace the problem elsewhere rather than resolving it.
