First Evidence of Roaming Adult T. rex Tracks Found in US
In North Dakota, USA, a series of footprints from an adult T. rex has been discovered for the first time. A Denver museum research team found the tracks in 2025 and published their findings in the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology. The fossilized prints, found in the Hell Creek Formation, span over 7 meters and include four three-toed footprints. Estimated to be 66.5 million years old, each print is 91 cm long, with steps nearly 4 meters apart. The T. rex walked at 5.6–7.2 km/h. Three prints will be moved to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science later in 2026.
