Tourist Spending in the Netherlands Rises to Nearly 118 Billion Euros, Driven by Foreign Visitors
According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), tourists spent nearly 118 billion euros in the Netherlands in 2025, an increase of approximately 6 billion euros compared to the previous year. After adjusting for inflation, tourist expenditures rose by about 3 percent. Foreign visitors accounted for more than half of this growth, spending nearly 42 billion euros, a real-term increase of over 7 percent. Dutch tourists contributed 70 billion euros, representing more than half of total spending, with a slight inflation-adjusted rise of nearly 1 percent. Employment in the tourism sector grew slightly but remained below pre-pandemic levels, accounting for 5.4 percent of total employment in 2025 compared to 4.6 percent in 2021. Only the hospitality industry, the largest sub-sector, saw a slight decline in jobs.
