The Public Prosecution Service (OM) has requested a seven-year prison sentence for Jalal O., 37, regarding a fatal explosion at a drug lab in Rotterdam’s Zuidwijk on January 31, 2024. The blast killed three people, including subtenants Mustafa and Ilyas, and destroyed part of a residential block. While Jalal O. claimed ignorance of the operation run by his subtenant, prosecutors argue he managed the cocaine production using acetone drums. Seventeen residents and businesses have filed claims totaling approximately one million euros for damages resulting from the incident.
