Jon Watts to Direct First Film in New Star Wars Trilogy
Jon Watts has been hired to direct the first installment of a new Star Wars trilogy within the Skywalker Saga, according to US media reports. The filmmaker, known for his work on three Spider-Man films with Tom Holland, will helm this upcoming project. Scriptwriter Simon Kinberg has been working on the trilogy since 2018 and is reportedly bringing back Daisy Ridley as Rey. Kinberg is a British-American producer and writer known for X-Men and Logan. This announcement follows the 2019 release of The Rise of Skywalker and precedes the May 2027 release of Starfighter starring Ryan Gosling.
