Sanquin to Resume West Nile Virus Testing After Blood Donation Infection
Blood bank Sanquin will test all blood donations in nine provinces for the West Nile virus starting tomorrow following a death linked to an infected donation. The deceased patient received blood from a donor who contracted the virus via a mosquito bite, though it remains unclear if the virus directly caused the death. While Groningen, Friesland, and Drenthe are not considered risk areas, their donors' blood will be pooled and tested as a precaution.
