13-Year-Old Chinese Swimming Phenom Yu Zidi Wins Three Gold Medals at Asian Games, Nearly Breaks World Record
Thirteen-year-old Chinese swimmer Yu Zidi won three gold medals at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan. She claimed victory in the 400m individual medley with a time of 4:28.56 and previously won the 200m butterfly and 200m individual medley events. Her performance in the latter came just four-hundredths of a second off the world record. Yu, who received special dispensation from World Aquatics to compete despite being under the minimum age of fourteen, previously earned a bronze medal at the 2025 World Championships.
