75 Cats Found in Small Paris Apartment, Dead Kittens in Freezer
The animal welfare organization YouCare rescued 75 cats from a neglected 50-square-meter social housing apartment in Paris’s 15th arrondissement after the tenant was evicted. The animals lived in squalid conditions with urine odor and dead kittens found in the freezer; only four of many litters survived due to lack of sterilization. Since September 10, 45 cats have been saved, while volunteers feed the remaining residents as shelters are full. A fundraising campaign has reached its €21,000 goal to cover treatment costs estimated at €500 per cat. YouCare filed a complaint for animal abuse, suspecting the tenant suffers from Noah’s syndrome, though he denies the allegations and wants the animals back.
