World Cycling Championships to be held in the Netherlands: not as planned for 2032, but in 2034
The UCI announced during its congress in Montreal that Groningen and Drenthe in northern Netherlands will host the World Cycling Championships in 2034. The region had initially bid for the 2032 edition, but the UCI selected Pune, India, for that year; the Netherlands was offered 2034 as a compromise. Nij Begun, an organization focused on recovering from gas extraction damage, has guaranteed 20 million euros for the event, which is expected to feature the VAM mountain in Midden-Drenthe.
