Kees and Rudy Delighted by Cow Annie 99’s Rare Triple Birth: 'Guys, there are three in there!'
Cattle farmers Kees and Rudy Huurdeman, who run Nieuw Laurenburgh in Hoogland with Geert Huurdeman, witnessed a rare event when their cow, Annie 99, gave birth to healthy triplets on September 16. Veterinarian Natalie Brons had previously detected three embryos during a routine check, but the family confirmed the pregnancy only after delivery began earlier than the expected date of September 25. Kees Huurdeman assisted the second and third calves, removing membranes and physically checking for the third fetus before all three were born safely. The farmers emphasized the importance of colostrum for the newborns' immunity, while Rudy Huurdeman expressed his joy at experiencing such a unique occurrence.
