New CEO Heather Polinsky announced at Arcadis’ annual investment day that the engineering firm will divest most architecture activities and exit the Chinese market, resulting in an additional thousand job cuts on top of 1,200 already eliminated this year. These moves affect 10 percent of revenue and 13 percent of the workforce as the company resets its focus toward high-growth sectors like data centers, chips, and biotechnology. Although core areas such as transport and energy remain profitable, they are expected to grow slower than new sectors. Following the rejection of takeover bids from rival WSP Global earlier this year, investor reaction was cautious, with shares dipping slightly below Monday’s closing price despite projections for modest organic growth and improved operational margins between 2027 and 2029.
