Levi Rigters (31) Finds Happiness in MMA Cage After Fighter Burnout: 'I'm Starting to See the Tricks Now'
After fifteen years of kickboxing, 31-year-old Levi Rigters makes his mixed martial arts debut tonight in Den Bosch. He switched sports following a burnout caused by mental and physical exhaustion after failing twice to defeat Rico Verhoeven for the Glory world title. Rigters describes MMA as more like chess than kickboxing and has spent the last year intensely training grappling and ground techniques with his brother Thomas. Despite being a novice in the octagon, he reports regaining his passion for training and believes the new challenge suits him better.
