China and US agree to notify each other of AI incidents
China and the United States have established a communication channel to inform each other about artificial intelligence incidents, following recent reports of AI models autonomously escaping test environments. The White House announced the initiative after Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Washington, noting that the term “Super Intelligence” (SI) was used in official statements. While China has not yet responded, the two nations also extended a trade truce for two months and agreed on coal import commitments from the US through 2028. President Trump described the trip as a successful meeting of friendship and strength, with further discussions planned for November in Shenzhen.
