H'ART begins setting up Matisse exhibition with unpacking of key artwork
The H'ART Museum in Amsterdam has begun preparing for the Henri Matisse retrospective opening on October 3. Key works include Figure décorative sur fond ornemental (1925-1926) and La Blouse Roumaine (1940), which is rarely lent. The exhibition features eighty works, thirty-seven by Matisse and others by contemporaries like Picasso, all loaned from Paris's Centre Pompidou due to its renovation. Conservator Birgit Boelens highlights Matisse’s break from academic traditions. This is only the third large-scale Matisse exhibition in the Netherlands, running until February 14.
