Poet Babs Gons Receives Johannes Vermeer Prize 2026
Dichter and performer Babs Gons has been unanimously selected by the jury to receive the 2026 Johannes Vermeer Prize for her boundary-pushing, multidisciplinary work. The jury praised her ability to merge poetry, spoken word, performance, and social engagement into a unique genre that enriches both personal and public domains. Her recent poetry collection, Wie zijn we morgen, was published in May. Culture Minister Rianne Letschert will present the award, which includes €100,000 for a special project, at the Nieuwe Kerk in The Hague on November 23.
