Racehorse with Hitler-Referencing Name Gets New Moniker
The Jockey Club, the US organization registering thoroughbred horses, ordered a name change for a racehorse originally called Austrian Painter after a complaint was filed following its victory. The original name is an online alias for Adolf Hitler, who was born in Austria and aspired to be a painter. The owner proposed alternative names such as Braunau Star and My Struggle, which were also rejected due to their Nazi associations. The horse has been officially renamed Merrylegs. Additionally, another horse owned by the same individual, named New Order, must also change its name because it references the Nazi plan for occupied Europe.
