Authorities seriously failed in abuse of family home Niekerk
The Dutch Inspectorate of Healthcare and Youth (IGJ) found that quality, safety, and care at the Bersama family home in Niekerk were severely lacking. Two children aged 9 and 10, under the guardianship of William Schrikker Stichting (WSS) since November 2022, suffered years of abuse and neglect. Despite reports from January 2023 involving Cornerstones Jeugdzorg and Stichting Elker, authorities failed to act until November 2025 when the children disclosed the abuse at school. The IGJ ordered improved cooperation, information sharing, and direct communication with children to prevent future incidents.
