Government Tackles 'Wrongful Housing' with Higher Rents and Wealth Checks
The Dutch government is introducing stricter rules to prevent individuals with significant wealth from occupying social housing, a practice known as 'scheefwonen'. Households with assets over 118,000 euros will face maximum rents of approximately 900 euros per month, while those exceeding 237,000 euros are barred entirely.
