The Public Prosecution Service in Amsterdam has requested a twelve-year prison sentence for Jim B., a 48-year-old municipal tax official accused of selling confidential government data to information brokers. The prosecution alleges that between January 2024 and May 2025, B. sold sensitive personal details such as addresses and license plates, which were subsequently used to commit at least 95 violent incidents, including 36 explosions, threats, and an abduction. Two brokers, Gillian H. and Rishie K., face ten-year sentences each. The court heard that the data enabled criminals to locate targets with high precision, often within two weeks of purchase, despite defendants' claims that they did not know how the information would be used.
