Gasoline Price Rises by 0.1 Cent to Reach New Record
The recommended price for a liter of gasoline increased by 0.1 cent to 2.730 euros, setting a new record according to UnitedConsumers data on Monday. This rise followed the rejection by US President Donald Trump of an Iranian ceasefire proposal, which further pushed up oil prices. While diesel prices slightly decreased to 2.785 euros per liter from 2.788 euros, Dutch gas station owners fear that these high costs will encourage drivers to cross borders for cheaper fuel. Germany is set to offer a 17-cent discount per liter starting October 1. In the first half of the year, Dutch motorists spent 1.5 billion euros at German and Belgian stations, a 32 percent increase compared to the previous year.
