Nearly Extinct Dance Organ Makes Rare Appearance in Café: 'Wonderful'
A massive dance organ brought visitors back in time at café ’T Tapperijke in Made, where attendees danced to traditional music during a rare public appearance. Orgel player Thijs Haenen explained that only two traveling dance organs remain in the world, each visiting a fairground just once a year, making this event one of only two opportunities annually to hear such an instrument in a café. Regulars like Ans Herweg and her husband Willem celebrated the tradition, noting their long-standing attendance and love for dances like the foxtrot and English waltz. The venue was originally built to accommodate the large machine, which can be dismantled in two hours for transport.
