Hospital Outages Caused by 'Critical Vulnerabilities' in System
Amphia hospital in Breda and Elisabeth-TweeSteden Ziekenhuis (ETZ) in Tilburg experienced outages due to critical vulnerabilities in the Citrix NetScaler system, which allows remote access to patient portals. Z-CERT, a digital security center for healthcare, warned of these risks on Sunday evening and advised hospitals to temporarily disable the systems or monitor them closely while installing a patch from Citrix. As a result, patients at both hospitals have been unable to log in to their respective portals since Sunday morning. This incident follows a separate April hack of the ChipSoft software system, which affected other Dutch hospitals like Bravis and Jeroen Bosch but did not impact Amphia or ETZ because they used different infrastructure.
