Iranian Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Escaped Death Twice, According to Senior Cleric
Mohsen Al-Haidari, a member of Iran's powerful Assembly of Experts, revealed that Mojtaba Khamenei survived two near-fatal incidents following US airstrikes in late February. Al-Haidari stated that Mojtaba was injured during the attack on his father Ali Khamenei’s residence and later had to be rescued from rubble after American forces bombed three hospitals in Tehran. Despite rumors circulating this summer regarding Mojtaba's health, he was elected Supreme Leader by the Assembly with 50 out of 59 votes, though Al-Haidari denied that Ali Khamenei designated him as successor. Mojtaba has remained largely out of public view since assuming office.
