Firefighters Investigate Gas Smell in Oisterwijk, Only to Find They Caused It
A strong gas odor spread through the Dutch village of Oisterwijk, prompting a major response from firefighters and Enexis network staff who found no actual leak or explosion risk. The cause was traced to a broken THT scent vial, used for training exercises, which had been discarded at the fire station and shattered inside a garbage truck, releasing the chemical smell throughout the town.
