Canadian Engineering Firm WSP Global Abandons Arcadis Takeover Bid
Canadian engineering firm WSP Global has abandoned its attempt to acquire Dutch competitor Arcadis after failing to reach an agreement on share transfer terms. Arcadis CEO Heather Polinsky stated that remaining independent was the most effective way to create shareholder value, a stance supported by employees holding 19% of shares via a foundation. Consequently, WSP Global will not submit a formal bid to the Dutch Financial Markets Authority (AFM) as previously planned for October 15.
