Dutch National (23) Arrested in Investigation into Hackers Behind Odido
A 23-year-old Dutch national, Pepijn van der S., has been arrested for his alleged involvement with the ShinyHunters hacking group, which is linked to major cyberattacks on telecom provider Odido and the FBI. Van der S. was previously sentenced to four years in prison in 2023 for hacking and extorting companies before being released earlier this year. ShinyHunters, active since 2019, has hacked at least 90 companies, including AT&T and Ticketmaster, stealing data from 200 million premium accounts globally. The group recently claimed responsibility for the Odido breach, leaking customer data after the company refused to pay ransom. Police have released audio fragments of a caller to identify suspects involved in the extortion attempts.
