Chinese Swimmer (13) Impresses with Third Record and Gold at Asian Games
Thirteen-year-old Chinese swimmer Yu Zidi won her third gold medal at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, by setting a new championship record in the 400-meter individual medley. She finished in 4:28.56, beating the previous record by nearly 4.5 seconds and finishing 3.95 seconds ahead of teammate Ke Wenxi. Yu also broke championship records earlier in the competition in the 200-meter individual medley and 200-meter butterfly. Despite being below the standard FINA age limit of fourteen, she received a dispensation to compete after becoming the youngest World Championship medalist at age twelve.
