Hungarian Parliament Lifts Parliamentary Immunity for Premier Magyar and Two Ministers from Orbán Era
The Hungarian parliament has lifted the parliamentary immunity of Premier Magyar and two former ministers from Viktor Orbán’s government, following a request by the Hungarian judiciary. This decision allows the Public Prosecutor's Office to prosecute the three individuals. Magyar is accused of theft after allegedly taking and throwing a phone into the Danube during a nightclub dispute in Budapest in 2024, with potential damages amounting to only a few hundred euros.
