Fifteen men convicted for Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka
A court in Colombo convicted fifteen men regarding their involvement in the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka, which killed more than 260 people, including three Dutch nationals. Fourteen defendants were found guilty on all charges, including murder and conspiracy, while nine others were acquitted. The attacks targeted churches and hotels and were claimed by ISIS. Former intelligence chief Suresh Salley is accused of plotting the attacks to destabilize the government, and two former officials were previously sentenced to death for ignoring security warnings.
