Labor Inspectorate Arrests Two Ex-Prisoners for Benefit Fraud
The Enforcement Service of the Dutch Labor Inspectorate arrested two men, aged 45 and 48, in early September on suspicion of forgery, money laundering, and participation in a criminal organization. The suspects, recently released from prison, allegedly submitted falsified release certificates to fraudulently claim unemployment benefits from the UWV while still detained. By backdating these documents, they tricked the system into resuming payments for Wajong and WIA benefits, resulting in approximately 160,000 euros in fraudulent payouts.
