Morocco Appoints First Female Prime Minister
Fatima Zahra El Mansouri has been appointed as Morocco's first female prime minister, according to the royal palace. A member of the Party for Authenticity and Modernity (PAM), which won 97 of 395 seats in last week's parliamentary elections, she must now negotiate with other parties to form a government. The king appoints the head of government from the party that wins the most seats, per the constitution. El Mansouri, currently mayor of Marrakesh, previously served as minister of spatial planning, urban planning, housing, and urban policy.
