19-Year-Old Man Sentenced to Prison for Fatal Crash During Reckless Test Drive
The Rotterdam court sentenced an 18-year-old man to eight months in prison and five years' driving ban for causing a fatal accident on March 23, 2025. He was speeding at 115 km/h in a 50 km/h zone to test his new BMW X1 when he collided with a pregnant woman’s vehicle, killing her and her unborn child. Although he admitted to buying anti-dust spray, the court could not prove intoxication and rejected applying juvenile law, ruling he was capable of understanding the consequences of his actions.
