Parking Mistake in Germany Results in Death, Serious Injury, and Significant Damage
An 84-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle while parking in Niedernhausen near Frankfurt, resulting in the death of his 80-year-old wife and serious injuries to himself. After accidentally hitting a stationary car behind him, the man accelerated too much while reversing, striking his wife who was standing nearby before colliding with multiple other vehicles, a camper, and garden fences over a distance of approximately 150 meters. The woman died at the scene, and the driver was hospitalized with severe injuries. Police estimate the total damage caused by the incident at around 100,000 euros.
